The ultimate Rampage tweak

Do you want a rampage that has:

1. elbow movement

2. wrist joints

3. individual leg movement

4. extra hip joint

and last but not least :

5. can stand on two legs without the help of the backpack !!

Then this is the page for you!

now as a warning I need to say that if you try to apply this to your own figure, be aware that you need to cut up this figure a lot and there will be no going back on your steps .

don't mess this up... think before you "do"

Do not try this if you are not prepared to ruin the figure.

This is also not a magical solutition for all his stabillity problems, in the end he will be able to stand but it can still be tricky at times to pose him.
He is going to be a bit more stable than Sideswipe

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You WILL need a set of PPC-T01G ball joints ( you can get them at hobby link Japan) or something similar.

an exacto knife ( a lighter of some sort of flame to heat up your knife is helpfull too)

a drill. (remember to go slow here drilling to fast might break the plastic, also play with the forward and backward setting. If you have no experience I strongly recommend trying to drill holes in small plastic objects to see what might happen.)

glue

screwdriver

fine saw blade

and a lot of patience.

1. Elbow and Wrist movement.

the elbow thing is based on a tweak I saw on tfw2005 but I decided not to cut up the upperarm to get elbow movement but just use the rotation of that big wheel on Rampage's arm

there is an extra medium sized ball joint there allowing the hands to be posed in all directions while the elbow only allows a rotation over one axis.

take the saw and cut of the hand . its very important that the fake plastic wrist joint stays attached to the hand, this will become a real wrist joint later.

I used the saw until here and did the last partwith an exacto knife, so there is no visual damage to the joint bit.

this is what it looks like detached.

the top part of the arm part where the hand used to be attached you can now saw off.

(it is important you dothe steps this way otherwise there is no decent way to detach the hand and keep the wrist joint intact)

Now its time to make some holes

Make sure that you measure correcly where to drill the hole otherwise stuff might get in the way of eachother.

Also use a correct size of drill, this way you won't need glue to keep everything stick together.

Remove the platic pegs inside the wheels so they can turn around.

drill the hole for the wrist ball joint.

extra trimming might be nessecary to make everything turn smoothly.

a fake joint becomes a real one

carefully drill a hole here too.

add a ball joint in the hip

This tweak is not because there isn't enough articulation from the original hip joint but you need the boy to shift the weight forward and backward so Rampage can stand on two legs later on.

In order to do that the hips will need to be able to tilt also.

first remove the bottom screw , so the back of the vehicle will close properly.

now I wasn't able to preserve the spring inside the hips because it kept getting in the way. so I took that out.

the plan here is to insert the base of the ball joint in the opening of the old ball joint

the plastic of the baljoint interferes with the legs so you need to cut away what gets in the way.

in the end

if you pull the legs they wil disconnect from eachother and you will see a egg- shaped hole with a peg in the midde.. cut away plastic so the egg -shape becomes a circle.

DO NOT REMOVE THE PEG

this way the legs can turn in opposite directions from eachother

you could also do this if you want to keep the spring in there and not do all the tweaks on this page.

I used a little tape on the inside of the legs so they have more friction with the hips otherwise the figure will fall over all the time.

Rampage's new heels.

From day one I was annoyed by these useless things hanging on his upperleg. they have no function in any mode, except getting in the way.

Now you can put them to good use by making them into heels so Rampage can at least manage to get to the bathroom by himself without falling over all the time.

and now you've got a fully functional , stand alone Rampage.

(In most angles you don't even notice the heels, but in this picture I tried to show them so you can see how they work)
